When the Peruvian army went looking for tanks in 1935, it contacted the best known sources in the world such as Vickers, Renault, and Fiat. They also contacted lesser known CKD in Czechoslovakia. CKD had the perfect tank for them on the drawing boards. The LTL design for Latvia met the Peruvian specifications exactly. Peru ordered 24 tanks and were so happy with their operation that they were kept right up to 1988 when they were finally retired.
