Бисмарк - разстояние между осите 3.75м;
Ришельо - между оръдията, които са в една люлка - 1.95м, между двете средни оръдия - 2.95м;
КГV - 2.44м;
Айова и Саут Дакота, съответно 16"/50 и 16"/45 - по 2.98м;
Американските 14"/50 на Ню Мексико и Калифорния - 1.80;
Ямато - 3.50;
6-guns salvo and 9-guns salvo :
* average range : 20,000 yards
* pattern size : 300 to 400 yards
* dispersion : 1.5% to 2.0%
New Mexico Class pattern sizes :
* 3-guns : 1.2%
* 12-guns : 2.4%
16-inch gun :
* average range : 17,638 yards
* average spread : 303 yards
* dispersion : 1.7% of range
15-inch gun :
* average range : 14,683 yards
* average spread : 222 yards
* dispersion : 1.5%
Data below is for APC shell with full charge at 25,700 meters, test firings from 1948.
Since the purpose was to measure the impact of delay coils recently implemented, I suppose the data below refers to :
* either 2-guns salvos from the same semi-turret
* or 4-guns salvos from the same turret
* or 8-guns salvos from both turrets
With delay coils :
* maximum dispersion : 577 meters, i.e. 2.2% of range
Without delay coils :
* maximum dispersion : 1,710 meters, i.e. 6.7% of range
From there, we have :
* for 1938 : 539 yards at 16,000 yards, i.e. 3.3%
* for 1939 : 567 yards at 16,200 yards, i.e. 3.5%
German 38cm SK C/34 gun :
* 4-gun salvo : ~ 1.1%
* 8-gun salvo : ~ 1.4%
German 20.3cm SK C/34 gun :
* 4-gun salvo : ~ 1.5%
* 8-gun salvo : ~ 1.8%
Here are the results :
* 3-gun salvo : ~ 1.1%
* 6-gun salvo : ~ 1.4%
* 9-gun salvo : ~ 1.6%
The following spreads with full charges are reported :
* 3-gun salvo : 240 yards
* 4-gun salvo : 300 yards
* 5-gun salvo : 316 yards
* 6-gun salvo : 380 yards
* 7-gun salvo : 400 yards
* 8-gun salvo : 420 yards
* 9-gun salvo : 440 yards
I don't have the range for these, but I guess they would be similar to those reported in the Progress in Gunnery Material, 1938 and 1939 Editions because of the spread of 303 yards, that is similar to what is given above with 4-gun and 5-gun salvos.
From there, assuming a range of 17,638 yards (average of the 1938 and 1939 ranges), we obtain the following disperions :
* 3-gun salvo : 1.4%
* 4-gun salvo : 1.7%
* 5-gun salvo : 1.8%
* 6-gun salvo : 2.2%
* 7-gun salvo : 2.3%
* 8-gun salvo : 2.4%
* 9-gun salvo : 2.5%
