What does "boina slava" mean?

I just checked in my dictionary and "boinya" (бойня) means 'slaughterhouse' or 'butchery' and "slava" (слава) means 'glory'

What does "boina slava" mean?

Corect spelling is "boina" (бойна), and means "battle" as adjective. And "boina slava" is can be translated as "battle glory".

you've checked a russian dictionary methinks so there come the differences

"boina slava" really means "battle glory" or the closest similar thing in english (not quite sure :o )

Yea I have a Russian and Croatian dictionary but no Bulgarian. I figured it would be similar. "Boinya" in Russian was the closest word I could find to "boina" in Bulgarian.

I'm glad it doesn't mean "slaughterhouse glory"

Good, I thought my memory was going hazy there

I've been meaning to learn a slavic language for years but never bothered. I probably never will either I learnt some Croatian years ago but it didn't seem to make a lot of sense, wheras Russian seems a bit more 'logical' for some reason, plus the alphabet was easier to remember :o

Russian is moch more difficult to learn for a englishman than croatian. In the matter of fact, my fater, a journalist, says he doesn't know russian as he should. And he is a really good journalist! Make conclusions!

Well it was Serbo-Croatian which I made a half-hearted attempt to learn some years ago, I have no idea how that compares to Russian. Believe it or not I find Russian easier to read even though it doesn't use the latin alphabet. Those accents that you get over Serbo-Croat/Bosnian letters frankly piss me off!

Serbo-Croatian is similar to Bulgarian, they are in the same language group - South-Slavic Languages, but Bulgarians write in cyrillic. The latter has been a controversial issue for a long time - there are opinions that if we used latin we would be closer to the developed western world.
