    Other arrangements could be devised according to the tastes or views of those who like allegory or topical reference. But I cordially dislike allegory in all its manifestations, and always have done so since I grew old and wary enough to detect its presence. I much prefer history, true or feigned, with its varied applicability to the thought and experience of the readers.

Със сигурност (няма и как да е иначе) докато е създавал илюстрациите си, се е влиял (волно или неволно е без значение) от историята, т.е. е взаимствал откъси, идеи, сюжети и прочее."

      Тези две изречения чудесно се допълват помежду си.
